Everything very good on board we are dying of the heat but pushing forward in about 15knots of wind .

Winds are definitely not strong, but at least they have been blowing since yesterday, and we have been able to fly our big spinnaker and make progress. The last nights have been mesmerizing, with clear skies full of stars. Yesterday we passed what should be the middle of the race in terms of time, and this morning at 04GMT we found ourselves at a point equidistant 1680nm from Cape Town and also from Rio. Now definitely we have more race astern than ahead of us. Temperatures have been quite nice and our night shifts have required just a light jacket or a soft shell, quite different from some days ago when we had to use many layers to support from the cold outside (at least for us, Brazilian animals used to the heat). The calms have also been useful to smooth the seas, and now, with the spi up, 10 knots of wind from astern and 1m waves, it looks like we are crossing a protected bay… but a huge one…Lunch is almost ready and for sure we will put some kilos during this crossing! Shosholoza!

Audaz II
10th day.Just past the no wind zone. All fine here with crew and boat. At this lazy time we could swimming a little and refresh. Take this time to review the sails, adjustments and improvements. We are having a very wonderful weather here. Little rain, lot of sun. Already sail aprox. 1560 miles.The main sail repair is holding well. Check the food, water, diesel and batteries, all good. Today I think we will have a Feijoada. Every day, before 7 am someone here always asks what we will have for lunch…. Guess who? Well, I think we have 10 days ahead yet so let’s make this boat run and hold our beers and caipirinhas, we are coming!!!

We are west. Found clean underwear, rotten cabbage, 6 aubergine and a bottle of wine. The meat in the freezer is now buried under beer. Beer is cold. Life is good. Bye.. P.S. flocks of flying fish fly frequently in fear of finding themselves on our fire.

Felix Matters. There is nothing more demoralising on this race than the sound of flapping sails. For those that try sleep it’s elusive and for those on watch holding a course to limit the noise is impossible. The one who looks like a sailor stumbles up at 7am and mumbles about the fact that we only have enough water for another 20 days and that we may miss prize giving. His mood only lifts when the wind picks up and the race is back on. Miss Congeniality is banned for helming with his oversized toes as his course is as crooked as his curly eyebrows. The artist is editing his daily pics (from nipples up) & has mastered the art of negotiating shifts with Miss Congeniality. All is well aboard SV Felix.
