The Cape2Rio2020 Plue Peter Party was held on Friday 27th December 2019. The Blue Peter flag is traditionally flown on board vessels about to leave port, calling all sailors to their ship before it leaves. The Royal Cape Yacht Club venue was filled with competitors and supporters.
This 16th Edition of the Cape2Rio Race has a large youth competitor element. Above we see crew from Argonaut, JM Busha 54 Sailing Team, JML Rotary Scout and, below, the crew of Zulu Girl powered by Mazi Asset Management, celebrating in Cape Town in preparation for the race. They will all celebrate again in Rio de Janeiro in February 2020.
Luke Scott, the Cape2Rio2020 Race Chairman, introduced the race and competitors.
Ian Neilson, Deputy Mayor of the City of Cape Town welcomed visiting competitors to this flagship event in the city.
