News from the fleet:

Alexforbes ArchAngel

Hi all we first had our formal gala for crossing the GMT and there after the party started it was great fun you all missed a good time being at sea isn’t that boring at all.

Argonaut
Lovely day in the sun, lots of swimming. Dolphins. Some maintenance tasks. DOD award to the crew member who put the bag of rice back in the cupboard upside down.

Adventurerio 4

Last night we were sailing into strong headwinds and suddenly they changed, so in a few minutes we had a spinnaker up. Winds were light and favorable but near noon they disappeared completely! We dropped our main to put some protective patches, and have tried many headsails, but none able to make us surpass the 2kt barrier…

To compensate, we had a great lunch and chocolate cake with custard for dessert. The sea water just jumped 2 degrees higher, reaching 26C, and with air temperature at 29 degrees and no wind to refresh, it’s hot here!

Our initial expectation was to arrive by January 17 but that date will for sure happen later. We are doing our best to lower that, but the winds aren’t collaborating.

Shosholoza!

Atalanta
mad morning negotiating frontal system.  been all over the show.

DHL Me2Me
Another day of duck pond still water, the team are gearing up for a water sports day!

Cool Ideas Nemesis
All good with all on board.

Very pleasant sailing last night with a short period of light wind. Nice warm day but close hauled sailing. Just had a swim in the big blue sea.

Felix
News of the day. Wind &, exuberance fill the air as we cruise at 6kn after a dismal 2 days. Miss Congeniality was back for a while until his fishing lure got caught in the propeller and had to jump overboard (in a hove to position) to cut free the propeller. We now have a neutral smelling John Wick as we have had to enforce water rationing. It’s sad to hear of 2 big personality boats retire and we sincerely hope to be able to share a caparhinia? with them in Rio. Jacqui sacrifices to Neptune continue, with an airpod joining a cap and a glove overboard. She is continually tethered to the boat. The smile on the one who looks like a sailor is back.  Closely correlated to the speed of the wind. Although outwardly content, the skipper appears to be rotting away from the groin up with salt sores.

Nyamezela
All well on Nyamezela..

Ray of Light

Had a challenging 24hrs, light wind, no wind, 15 knots, squalls, more swimming, a Dorado on board, A3 spinnaker rebuild, water making.

The impeller turned out to be in great shape. When we were swimming yesterday Tammy got a huge fright when a covid mask brushed her arm. Working theory is that the mask blocked the water intake on the saildrive. Engine all good.

Definite evidence of our collision with anti fouling gone from the leading edge of the keel and in two places on the rudder. Maybe we hit a body at sea, picking up the mask in the process. What are you theories?

Sean decided to blind cast a small popper while we wait for wind, bang, Dorado on! Just landed the second of the  day. Malcolm and Jenna are doing a pro repair on the A3. Going to be better than new.  Spirits high while we wait for the breeze.

Thanks for all the messages and support appreciated
