News from the fleet
The fleet appears to be settling comfortably into their daily rhythms, with relatively quiet reports coming through today. A number of boats have crossed the meridian, marking the milestone with onboard celebrations, while others welcomed the New Year at sea in true Cape2Rio spirit.
SV African Skimmer: Some good progress made today under good to moderate wind. We have managed to wrap the asymm around the forestay quite a few times now. Some of these have been quite difficult to shake and have required that we drop the sail to to free it. We running a competition among the crew on who does the most wraps on the trip. Currently Eric “Snoop” Bob and Captain John “no-tack” the Wraptist seem to be leading the competition. The latter gets a special honourable mention for not closing the jammer after letting the tack out a bit in a valiant effort to unscramble the A4. The entire sail went into the water and required a huge effort to get back on board. Everyone in good spirits otherwise and fighting hard to get to Rio as quickly as possible.
