Audaz
The Royal Cape Yacht Club & Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro are proud to announce the arrival of another entry for the 2023 Cape to Rio Race. The entry, Audaz, is a 16-meter aluminum monohull designed by Finot and owned by Francisco Julio Galvão Lucchesi.
Lucchesi (Julio) is a long-time sailing cruiser with vast experience of Atlantic crossings, as well as sailing to Antarctica, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and all the Brazilian coasts. He has been preparing Audaz for long distance cruising and sees the Cape2Rio 2023 as a great opportunity to sail across Atlantic one more time.
For that quest, Julio invited Decio Maia and Gustavo Lis, friends he met on Refeno Regatta.
Maia, also an “amateur capitain” (Offshore Yachtmaster), is a Marine Biologist who has much experience on sailing, canoeing, kite surfing and paddling. He has already sailed from the Caribbean to Brazil and all the Brazil coastlines.
Lis, another “amateur capitain”, works with IT, and has sailed since 1984, with Caribbean and Brazilian Coast as long cruises. Nowadays he still competes in the Hobie16 class in Brazil and with monohulls, where he achieved some national titles, representing Veleiros do Sul Yacht Club.
We look forward to this highly qualified trio joining us on the start! Welcome!
