South Africa’s oldest offshore race, the Mossel Bay Race, is under new management who are keen to put this race back on the map. This race is approved as a qualifying race i.t.o. amendement 3 to the Notice of Race:
5.1.4. Each boat, including her crew, must during the year of 2016 and by five days before the start date, have sailed a single journey of at least 500 nautical miles, or 36 continuous hours; the onus shall be on the owner to satisfy the Race Committee thereof. Alternatively a boat, including her crew, may qualify by competing and completing the 2016 Mossel Bay Offshore Race. Only boats that have officially entered the Cape to Rio Race 2017 before the start of the Mossel Bay Offshore Race shall qualify.
Please note that only paid enteries of the race shall be eligible.
