Sailing Experience or Boat Information: As a seasoned sailor and current J/130 (43') sailboat owner with seven years of distance racing experience in the Chicago area, I'm seeking to leverage my extensive hands-on experience and a passion for sailing as crew on the Cape to Rio 2025 race. I am 45 years old, 6'-5" and 210lbs and have extensive helming experience, yet can be put to use in any position on a sprit boat. I have completed over 30 distance races and three Mac races (666 miles roundtrip) in the Chicago area, winning 1st to finish, 2nd in our section and 3rd overall in the 2018 season. In 2023, I completed my first Mac race as a boat owner and person in charge successfully navigating, provisioning, helming and safely completing the race with 12 people aboard, demonstrating endurance, strategic planning and leadership under challenging conditions. I have owned three sailboats and am intimately familiar with sailboat repairs, maintenance, safety and equipment. I'm eager to contribute my skills and experience as a sailor to a competitive, team oriented boat for the 2025 Cape Town to Rio Race. While I have not competed in this race before, my extensive experience as a boat owner, distance racer and helmsman would make me an asset to any team seeking to competitively place in the 2025 race.
