HYPR the much modified and optimised racing machine has her sights firmly set on the Monohull record that has stood the test of time since the 2014 edition of the race.

White Mischief

White Mischief, a Sovereign 51, is skippered by Richard Wiederhold, previous winner of the Cape To Rio, he will share the skippering duties with Bernard Haupt and Glen Landridge.


Lexi Mamacos with her crew of 5 is using the Cape2Rio race as a launching pad to continue cruising after the race and Faros, a 43-foot Dudley Dix, will be a perfect travelling home.


Brazilian Bruno Baqueiro has covered over 12000 miles on board Arribasaia, including two trans-Atlantic crossings, between Brazil, Spain and Portugal. Both him and Cape2Rio will be celebrating 50th birthdays in 2023.


Audaz is a 16-meter aluminum monohull designed by Finot. She is owned by Francisco Julio Galvão Lucchesi (Julio) togather with Decio Maia and Gustavo Lis who all have vast experience of ocean crossings.


Cassiopia, a Sadler 32, is a local entry and will be skippered by Geoff Sivertsen. Launched in the 80’s in Gothenburg, Sweden, she is currently based at The Water Club in Granger Bay, Cape Town.


The Royal Cape Yacht Club and Iate Club do Rio de Janeiro are proud to announce an entry that will be crewed by graduates of the Royal Cape Yacht Club’s in-house Sailing Academy.


Esperanca is a modern cruiser-racer, a Delta 465 which is to be launched in mid 2022. The owner Marcio Lima is hoping to encourage other sailors to also participate in the race.


Bahari, owned and skippered by husband-and-wife team of Brenton & Kim Chauncey, together with Luke Walker and Andre Erasmus are planning to use the race as a stepping stone to set off on a dream cruise.


It comes as no surprise that he has just become the first single-handed entry for the Cape2Rio Race 2023. For his build up to the start on 2 January 2023, he has a few additional objectives in his sight.


Looking forward to 2023 we will be able to witness the return of Criloa who will be skippered by Carina Joana and together with Maritza Oliveira they intend to lead another all-female crew.

Aventureiro 4

Aventureiro 4 is an Outremer 51 belonging to Johan “Hans” Hutzler, who is no stranger to the Cape2Rio Race having been the navigator on board the yacht “Saravah” in the 2020 race.

Black Pearl

The new Black Pearl has just completed sea trials in Europe and is currently moored in Lanzarote, Canary Islands awaiting the start of the annual RORC Transatlantic Race scheduled to commence on 9 January 2021.


This Mumby 48 catamaran is currently making an epic dash across the Indian Ocean (a voyage that originated in the Philippines) to make it to the start…

JML Rotary Scout

JML Rotary Scout set the record for the youngest skipper in the history of the race in 2000 with a 20-year-old skipper and 23-year-old navigator. This time Nicholas Chapman and Daniel Skriker will be co-skippering the race. Both will be aged 21 at the start.
